At the bottom of the page are some links to other pages that may be of interest.

Accommodation

We have a web page giving details of hotels, self-catering houses/flats and bed and breakfast in and around the Seaview area. This page can be reached by clicking here

Restaurants in the village

The Seaview Hotel has an award winning restaurant and offers top-of-the-range dining. The front and back bars of the hotel offer bar snacks such as fish and chips and crab ramekin, a local speciality. Tel: 01983 612711 or email from here.

Khrua Thai Orchid in the High Street is a Thai restaurant (and one of my favourites!). The Khrua Thai has been established for 10 years and is a family run business. The chef is a Thai national and the specialisation is Nothern Thai cusisne, which means it can be quite spicy, but for those who prefer their food a bit milder, then this can be easily arrangd. There is also a full vegetarian menu. Singha beer is available as is Tiger beer (from Singapore). The restaurant can seat 44 people and as it can be a popular place to eat advance booking is advised. A takeaway service is also available. Tel: 01983 568899.
The restaurant is at the top of the High Street, next door to the grocery store and across the road from Mike Miller's art studio.

The Old Fort is right on the front and very close to the Yacht Club. It offers pub food such as fish and chips, spare ribs and burgers. Tel: 01983 612363

Next door to The Old Fort is Gill's Café. Bacon sandwiches, a full fry-up breakfast, baguettes with a variety of fillings, pots of tea, chocolate cake, ice cream... Gill's Café offers it all!!

The Copper Kettle in the High Street has coffee, tea and light snack meals.

Other Activities

Tennis At the Priory Bay Hotel (01983 613146) and also at Puckpool Park (01983 562086), where rackets and balls are available for hire. Puckpool Park is run by the Isle of Wight Council and is about 15 minutes walk along the seafront from the village and also has children's swings, slides and roundabouts, crazy golf, a small putting green and lawn bowls. There is a cafe serving teas and ice cream.

Horse Riding at Sally's Stables (01983 872260). This is about 15 minutes from the village and is very close to the Priory Bay Hotel.

Golf at the Priory Bay Hotel (01983 613146) and also at Westridge Golf Centre (01983 613131). The Westridge Golf Centre is about 10 minutes away by car. Also at the same place are...Squash Courts (01983 566243).

Ten Pin Bowling is available at the LA Bowl in Ryde (01983 617070) about 10 minutes by car.

Swimming Pool in Ryde about 10 minutes by car (01983 563636) has a retractable roof and a pool for toddlers.

Cinema Of course, it never rains on the Isle of Wight! But sometimes there might just be the odd shower... in which case there is the cinema! The Commodore in Ryde is on 01983 565609.

Nightspots This author's idea of a fun night is his nightly Horlicks, but for those with energy to spare at the end of a busy day, I understand The Jolly Sailor and Colonel Bogey's offer a fine time.

For children...

The beach... a bit obvious, perhaps, but there are quality beaches everywhere! At low tide, there are many rock pools where children can go crabbing and/or shrimping. Buckets and spades, shrimping nets and the usual beach things are available from Bookworm and Dobson's newsagents both in Pier Road. Check the times of high tide by clicking here

Puckpool Park (see above) has swings, a slide and a roundabout. There is also crazy golf, putting and tennis.(01983 562086).

Flamingo Park (01983 612153) has many birds including a penguin pool. Feeding time for the penguins is at 11:30 am and 3:30pm. My daughter loved it! The Flamingo Park is about 15/20 minutes walk (some of it uphill) or 5 minutes by car... and there is a large free car park!

Ryde Seafront includes trampolines, crazy golf and a mini-fairground. This is very close to the swimming pool (which has a small pool for toddles) and is right on the beach.

Waltzing Waters A water-and-light musical spectacular. A 40 minute show on the hour every hour from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This is up at the Westridge Centre, about 10 minutes away by car, near Tesco's (01983 811333) (inside tip... go to the loo before the show!!)
